I thought I would share with you my current evening or night time skincare routine as a couple of people have messaged me about it, and I do like my night creams! I would like to mention though that this is quite elaborate for me and I don’t do it every night, as sometimes I am too lazy or tired and go straight to bed! However, if I am winding down and fancy a bit of me-time or my skin needs a bit of oomf! then this is the routine I tend to go for.
I know lots of people are really against make up wipes, but I really love the micellar ones from Simple. I am a fan of micellar water, but I’m also quite messy and end up pouring it everywhere rather than on a muslin cloth or cotton wool pad. These wipes are so simple, and as long as you don’t press too hard on your face, it doesn’t irritate your skin and gets rid of most of your makeup, even on your eyes.
Next is a cleanser, just in case you miss something with the wipes. I’m a bit of a cliche with cleansing and tend to stick to my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. It just polishes and cleans every niche of your face and makes you feel like you’ve had a facial. You just put a pea size amount on your face, leave for a couple of minutes, then wash off with hot water and a muslin cloth. Your skin feels so lovely afterwards and smells so fresh – and it’s all natural and not tested on animals.
I must say I don’t really understand the point of a toner – if someone could enlighten me, that would be great. However, I got this one (Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer) in a Liz Earl gift set and it made my skin feel even brighter and almost like a clean canvas ready for a moisturise! You just spray it on like a mist and don’t really have to do anything else.
I have tended in the past to go straight to a moisturiser, but now I am the dear old age of 23 (Ha!) my friends keep getting obsessed with ageing and I must say I have started to see some pesky lines over the last couple of years! I also like to use hydrating serums (like the Garnier Moisture Bomb) as in winter my skin just gets so dry, that adding a serum to the mix really helps my skin to stay extra hydrated.
The last step is to moisturise, which I will use a cream most likely, or sometimes an oil – such as the Body Shop Vitamin E serum-in-oil (which is amazing). At the moment I am using the Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial which feels so nice on my skin in the morning, as it helps it to feel so might tighter and radiant. You can just use this once a week as it is quite intense, whilst using another basic standard night cream for the rest of the week.
Thanks for reading! Obviously I would like to put in a disclaimer that there is no right or wrong, everybody has different skin and so different things work for different people. Please share your thoughts or recommendations about your evening routine, I would love to find out some more!
