Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends ‘Intense Repairer’ with Maple Sap Shampoo and Conditioner

I was really, really surprised when I came across this new item in Superdrug over the weekend. Although I am trying to prioritise getting more volume into my hair, I couldn’t help but wonder what the effect was of literally washing it with maple syrup. It is for very damaged hair which my hair is not particularly, but hey what harm can a bit of extra love do.

My first thought with this shampoo is of the smell. It is absolutely delicious. When I have used this shampoo, I can smell it in my hair for 3 whole days and have had so many compliments about how nice I smell! It is very sweet and floral, but in almost a cocoa butter way. It actually reminds me of a buttery Flowerbomb (Viktor and Rolf perfume).

It lathers quite well compared to a lot of Garnier Ultimate Blends products, which I was impressed with. The conditioner is also a lot thicker than usual, which is what I was generally disappointed with in their other products.

In terms of the actual effects on my hair, the end result was definitely much softer and smoother, with an almost fluffy-like look to it. I do think this made my hair look more manageable and a better quality.

The only thing I don’t like about this shampoo and conditioner is that it does make my hair quite flat. Perhaps the intensity and moisture in it causes it to weigh down. I also wash my hair twice a week, but on the the third day after washing it with this product it looks a little bit too greasy to wear down, which is annoying. As someone with fine hair but lots of it, I don’t think this suited my hair as well as my usual shampoo.

Overall I think this is a really lovely product – amazing smell and great quality for the price. I think it would be perfect for someone with fairly thick and dry hair, which needs a lot of TLC. However, I would certainly avoid this if you have very fine hair or are prone to hair getting greasy quickly.

Let me know if you have tried this product and tell me what you think! Or even better, if you’ve even just seen this product in the shops as I have only seen this and on an ad in the Metro!

As always
