Although the Healthy Mix Serum has always been my holy grail drugstore foundation, as my skin has changed from normal/dry to normal/combination, I’ve been reaching for a less hydrating mix. Although the Healthy Mix Foundation is still ultra glowy and hydrating, it is toned down from the Serum formula and creates more of a natural finish.
With the new formula just released, lets have a look at these beauties in action!
Excuse me for the following photos but it was very early in the morning and I hadn’t had the time to let my moisturiser sink into my skin yet, which is why I look super shiny/Walking Dead extra. I will update the photos once I get the time, but hopefully these still show you the kind of foundation and concealer these are:
I love the finished effect of these – it really is your skin but better. What I also love is that it doesn’t feel to heavy, but it still gives a good medium coverage. It smells lovely and fruity and it is also infused with vitamins and skin-loving ingredients, so you don’t feel to bad to be covered in foundation all day because it could almost pass as a skincare component.
So what is actually new? For me, I couldn’t tell too much of a difference. The one thing I did notice which is is a HUGE plus is that to me it looks less cakey than before and more skin-like. It doesn’t cling onto dry patches or look like your caked in makeup even with a full face, the sheen on it just seems more natural whilst still holding that glow it is famed for.
The packaging is much sleeker. It follows the City Radiance foundation (which I have a review on here) with the girlier font and just all around neater look. The square glass bottle is much more fashionable and looks much better on your dressing table.
I couldn’t tell much difference with the concealer in the formula – it is still deliciously creamy and great for under the eyes. However, the packaging for this is SO much better. I hate those squeezy tubes for concealer where you end up squeezing out way too much product and either wasting it or just looking extra cakey. This has a wand applicator in another glass bottle (much like the Radiance Reveal concealer which I have also reviewed here) meaning that you can just dab on the amount you want, where you want. It is much more practical and definitely makes me want to use it more!
Overall I really love the combo of these two products and think the re-vamped versions from Bourjois are to die for. If you’d like to see this product in my Current Everyday Makeup (with other products on top of it) please click here.
Let me know what you think if you’ve tried these or if there is anything else you’d like me to review!
